A scratchy throat, the first chills of the season, harsh environments (air conditioning, stress, smoking): these discomforts affect almost everyone as the seasons change. Faced with this kind of irritation, propolis is one of the most well-known treasures of the hive for naturally soothing and protecting the throat, thanks to its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-inflammatory properties. Combined with organic honey, royal jelly and plants from our own gardens such as thyme or eucalyptus, it forms preparations that soothe irritation from the very first signs of discomfort, support the natural defenses of the respiratory tract and help you get through winter with more ease. At Ballot-Flurin, these preparations are handmade in our Bee Factory in the Hautes-Pyrénées, with no preservatives or colorants, for natural throat and respiratory support at every stage of the cold season.

Propolis for the throat: which products, which uses?

Propolis comes in several formats depending on the moment and the need:

At the first tickle — the Pyrenean Nasal Spray and the Nomad Emergency Spray, our best-sellers, are sprayed directly onto the irritated area for fast, targeted action. The Black Propolis Spray and the White Propolis Spray (alcohol-free) — suitable for children and for pregnant or breastfeeding women — round out this family for instant throat relief.

For support throughout the day — the Extra-Strength Pyrenean Gums and the Strong Pyrenean Gums, enriched with organic honey, are chewed directly to soothe the throat and mouth at any time, at home or on the go.

For a winter cure — the Winter Propolis Syrup and the Brrr! Grog support the body over time during the cold season, while Officinal Thyme Honey offers gentle, everyday support with a comforting taste.

For the whole family — the Protective Bears Sweets and the Protective Angels Sweets offer a fun format suitable for children from 36 months, while the Raw Fresh Gold Propolis to suck on appeals to fans of propolis in its purest form.

For complete support, our Seasonal Sensitivities Kits and our Express Boost Kit combine several formats (spray, gums, syrup) to cover every throat and respiratory need in a single preparation.

How to use it: when to start, how long, how often?

When to start? It's best to use propolis-based preparations at the very first signs of discomfort (a tickle, a dry throat, feeling a chill), rather than waiting for the irritation to settle in. As a preventive measure, a cure can also be started as soon as the first cold weather arrives in autumn, or ahead of a higher-risk period (back to school, a change of season, exposure to cold or air conditioning).

How often? Propolis sprays are generally used 2 to 4 times a day, with a few sprays applied directly to the irritated area, including for children with alcohol-free formats. Gums and sweets can be taken as needed, as soon as discomfort appears, without exceeding the quantities indicated on the packaging.

For how long? For occasional use, sprays and gums are used for as long as the discomfort persists, usually a few days. As a preventive cure, the winter syrup or thyme honey can be taken over several weeks, particularly throughout the winter season, for ongoing respiratory support.

These preparations are formulated with a maximum of organic ingredients, and several are alcohol-free, suitable for children from 36 months, pregnant women and breastfeeding women depending on the reference.
